2022-02-06 21:00

On February 4, 2022, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Sergio Mattarella on his re-election as the president of the Republic of Italy.

Xi Jinping pointed out, China-Italy relations enjoy deep historical roots, sound public support and a solid bond of interests, setting an example of mutual respect, seeking common ground while shelving differences, and win-win cooperation for the international community. The two countries have actively cooperated to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, jointly celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Italy diplomatic ties, and supported each other in hosting the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 and the Olympic Winter Games Milan 2026. The China-Italy Year of Culture and Tourism is about to restart, which will bring many new opportunities for the development of bilateral relations. I attach great importance to the development of China-Italy relations and stand ready to work with President Mattarella to deepen mutual political trust, expand exchanges and cooperation in various fields and jointly push for new achievements in China-Italy relations for the benefit of the two countries and two peoples.
